Fencing FAQs

  • Do I need planning permission for a new fence?

Most garden fences don’t need permission if they’re under two metres high. If you’re not sure, we can let you know before we start.

  • How much does a new fence cost?

It depends on the size of the job and the materials you want. We’ll measure up and give you a clear written price before anything’s agreed.

  • What’s the best time of year to get a fence fitted?

Any time really. We work all year round unless the weather’s too bad to dig. Spring and summer are the busiest months so it's often faster and cheaper to book a new fence installation outside these times.

  • How long should a new fence last?

A good timber fence that’s been pressure treated should last 10–15 years or more.

  • Can you repair my old fence instead of replacing it?

Yes, if it’s just a few damaged panels or posts, we can repair it instead of fitting a new one.

  • What type of fence is the strongest?

Closeboard and feather edge are the strongest types for most gardens. They stand up well to wind and give good privacy.

  • Do you supply all the materials?

Yes, we bring everything needed for the job. You don’t have to order or buy anything yourself.

  • Do you take the old fence away?

Yes, we take down and remove all old fencing and rubbish so your garden’s left tidy.

  • Are your fences treated?

Yes, all our timber is pressure treated to protect it from rot and weather damage.

  • Do you only work in Middlesbrough?

We cover Middlesbrough and the surrounding areas like Stockton-On-Tees, Acklam, Marton, Linthorpe and Coulby Newham.

  • Do you charge for quotes?

No, all our quotes are free and there’s no obligation.

  • Are you insured?

Yes, we’re fully insured for all fencing work.
